Behind the Scenes: Cover Family

Summer 2017

Setting up the photo shoot for the Neiman family caused our intrepid photographer, Jesse, to build and tear down tents twice—to suit the park ranger who stopped by. He also hauled wood and chopped away branches to make an easier traverse on the log across the creek. It was a very windy day, and so it took all of us to batten down the hatches. We used the family’s real tents and supplies—their actual coffee pots, coffee, hot chocolate, and of course their fresh-made pastries. The kids had a blast, and Jesse just waded right through the creek (the girls thought he was very cool) to get the best shots. Chris, our Senior Designer, also was “cool,” and you can see him in these photos holding the all-important reflector. It allows the faces of our adorable subjects to be seen, even when the main light is behind them. Creative Director John (the bald guy with the slippery shoes) had to do very little directing of the family, because they were naturals.
