Deadwood History’s Chinese New Year

Deadwood History’s Chinese New Year Party will be held at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center on Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for students in grades K-6.  The workshop is $11 per child, and $6 for museum members. Please call Amanda Brown, Education Director, at 605-578-1657 for reservations or more information.  Reservations are required.

Children are invited to celebrate Chinese New Year and the year of the dog.  Youth will learn how Chinese New Year is celebrated and why this holiday is so important in Chinese culture and to Deadwood history.   Students will also learn what the Year of the Dog means for 2018 and the traditions that make Chinese New Year so unique.  The workshop will also include a Chinese style lunch, craft projects, and a red envelope ceremony.
